Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, was designated a holiday to help American citizens remember the sacrifice and death of U.S. military members in wars to protect the freedoms we enjoy.

The Aberdeen Veterans of Foreign Wars will be celebrating Memorial Day in two ways again this year: first by participating in the annual Ceremony at Fern Hill Cemetery at 11:00am, and then by hosting a BBQ, open to the public, at the Aberdeen VFW post from 11am – 6 pm at the Aberdeen VFW post at 105 East Heron.

The Aberdeen Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting a Barbeque, Monday, Memorial Day, May 25th, from 11am – 5 pm at the Aberdeen VFW post at 105 East Heron, to celebrate Memorial Day and to raise money for the repairs recently completed on their building.

They will be serving baskets including either a hamburger, fries, and pop, for $8 or a hotdog, fries, and pop for $7 (seating will be indoors).

The Service Officer will be available to provide information on benefits to veterans and their families. Post members will be available to speak with any veterans who might be interested in becoming members. In the parking lot will be the Lytle Racing American Veterans Tribute race car for public viewing. There will also be a raffle for Free Dinner Certificates, and a 50/50.
