Aberdeen Police are warning the public after a cougar sighting was reported in a residential area yesterday. Lieutenant Kevin Darst said officers were called to the 300 block of West 9th street for the report of a cougar stalking a deer just after 6 Thursday morning.
The responding officer noted that there were no deer in the area, and could not locate the cougar.
Darst noted that it was reported several blocks South of Bel Aire and not very close to any forest, adding that the department is asking everyone to keep an eye out for a cougar.

A resident saw the cougar and said it is the size of a medium to large dog. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate it. Appropriate schools were being notified.
