Aberdeen Police arrested a man on arson charges last week after they say he tried to set fire to a Heron street home with three adults and two children inside.
Lieutenant Kevin Darst said that early last Monday morning they responded to a reported Arson in the 900 block of W. Heron Street. There were three adults and two children in the residence.
A mattress at the back of the residence was set on fire, but was put out by the occupants before the burn spread. The adult female inside the residence told officers that the suspect was her ex, James Anderson. She related that he made threats the previous night to burn the house down.
Darst said that the man been a suspect in numerous crimes against her. Just before the fire started, she heard noises outside and saw her neighbor’s motion light come on. She observed James Anderson walking down the alley at the back of the house. A few minutes later, she saw flames through the window. She rushed her children out of the house.
The adult male in the house stated that he saw James Anderson running away from the residence when they came outside for the fire.
A couple of hours after the fire, Aberdeen Officers were able to locate James Anderson and arrest him for Arson. He was booked and taken the GHCO Jail to be arraigned for the charge of Arson.
