Police arrested a man who struck an officer as he fled from a vehicle-turned foot chase in South Aberdeen last week. A witness reported the vehicle and police speeding down Cushing Street around 4 AM Thursday morning, after eluding officers for most of the day he was arrested Thursday night.
Aberdeen Police Chief Steve Shumate said on Friday, “They stopped him, he pulled over when they tried to arrest him [he] took off hitting one of my officers. Fortunately, it was [a] minor injury.” Shumate added investigators had been searching for the man, “A known gang member we were looking for for a sex-offense. He had drug violations, firearm violations, felony-eluding, officers finally located him.”
When he ran Thursday morning he left behind enough information for detectives, Shumate said police arrested him Thursday night.
