COSMOPOLIS, Wash. – The Festival in the Park could be getting a face lift, or shown the door. Cosmopolis Mayor Vickie Raines said that council and staff are contemplating what to do with the festival… more aptly named the festival on the school playground for the past two years;
“We’ve had mixed comments on whether to have it back at the park because the park’s open again, or keep it at the school. We’ve had comments [like] if you’re going to keep it at the school then you shouldn’t call it Festival in The Park.”
Raines said the city has not budgeted for the festival regardless of location, and that the State Auditor has talked with them about the gray funding area that in the past has been filled with spaghetti feeds and fund raisers. The Festival was moved from Mill Creek Park when The Mill Creek dam broke over two years ago.
