ABERDEEN, Wash. – Downtown merchants may soon have a new resource in their loss prevention department, and what Police Chief Bob Torgerson calls “The most modern phone tree in the neighborhood.”
The Dowtown Parking and Business Improvement District Committee will reccommend the Merchant Alert Online program to the Aberden city council at their next meeting, the program allows businesses to report and receive email, web, or text message alerts of crime activity ranging from check fraud, armed robbery, to Fake ID and scams. The program will cost the city $500 per year for the first three years, after that the service normally costs twice that.
