United Way of Grays Harbor invites potential new partners to info meeting

ABERDEEN, Wash. – The United Way of Grays Harbor & Pacific Counties will host a meeting about their funding process for the coming year on Thursday December 12th. Non-profits interested in becoming a United Way partner are invited, from 1 to 3:30, in the Port Commission meeting room, at 111 South Wooding Street in Aberdeen. The 2014 applications will be available, and preview a new Volunteer Website rolling out in 2014.

United Way of Grays Harbor to Honor Lynn Daneker

Aberdeen, WA- The United Way Grays Harbor will hold its annual Board of Directors and Membership meeting at the Grays Harbor Country Club, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 12 Noon- 1:30 p.m. Plate lunch and beverages will be served, followed by the short business meeting and recognition ceremony.

The board and membership will elect new board members/officers and review the annual budget for approval, which includes agency program funding for 2012-2013. A report on the results achieved from last year’s funding will also be given. The Joel Wolff Lifetime Community Service Award will be presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to our community, along with the United Way of Grays Harbor’s Business of the Year award. Lynn Daneker will also be recognized with an award named in his honor, The Lynn Daneker Outstanding Service Award, presented to a Board Member that has exemplified Lynn’s example of caring, commitment and dedication to the United Way of Grays Harbor Board of Directors.

All persons who contributed to the United Way in the 2011-2012 fundraising campaign are members of the organization and are invited to this meeting. The cost will be $25 at the door or $20 in advance.

A recipient will be chosen based on the following criteria (in no particular order and with no special weight given to any single criteria):

  • · Length of service
  • · Impact on community needs – making a difference – real result in the community
  • · Demonstration of an authentic and real change in the lives of other
  • · Dedication to meeting the needs of local people
  • · Reputation in the community
  • · Leadership on community issues
  • · Scope and/or depth of involvement in community service

Eligibility for the annual Award shall require:

  • · An individual active in community service efforts who may be nominated for work done, whether volunteer or work-related.
  • · The work the person is nominated for must be done in Grays Harbor County.
  • · Individuals must serve the community at large.
  • · United Way employees, members of the Panel of Judges or their immediate families are not eligible.
  • · Nominees from previous years, who were not recipients of the Award, are eligible for re-nomination.

The nomination process shall work as follows:

  • · For a nomination to be considered, the nomination form must be filled out completely and legibly and turned in to the United Way office at 101 E. Market Street, #544 in Aberdeen by May 14, 2012. Or emailed to uwgh@techline.com (application is available for download of the website, www.unitedwaygh.com). An incomplete or unsigned nomination form will not be accepted.
  • · Any individual may nominate more than one candidate.
