Mason County Sheriff’s Dept. Seeks to Create K9 Unit

SHELTON, Wash. - The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to create a patrol K-9 team to assist in the effort to combat crime in Mason County. The K-9 team is a valuable asset to deputies and other law enforcement officers who are working diligently to protect the citizens of this County. The addition of a Patrol K9 team will enhance this agency’s ability to track down, locate and capture wanted offenders in rural and urban environments. The deployment of a Patrol K9 will greatly enhance the safety of the citizens and law enforcement officers of Mason County.  The Sheriff’s Office currently relies on the generosity of other agencies for K9 assets. These extended response times and limited availability often lead to the escape of offenders, increasing risk to officers and citizens.
