By Andrea Dresdale

Credit: Myrna SuarezBack in 2006, Billy Joel set a record by selling out 12 consecutive shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden; he was the first solo artist to do so on a single tour. Now, the Piano Man is poised to tie his own record.

Billy has just announced that he’s added a 12th show to his current residency at the legendary New York City venue. The previous 11 shows he’s put on sale have all sold out. This 12th show will take place Thursday, December 18, and tickets go on sale Friday, February 28 at 10 a.m.

When he first announced his residency at the Garden — the venue calls it a “music franchise — Billy said he’d continue to play one show a month there “as long as there is interest.” The residency began on January 27; his next show is scheduled for March 21. In between, he’s been performing select dates around the country, and he’ll continue to do so, in arenas and stadiums, throughout the year.
