Justin Timberlake to Play Legendary Street Basketball Star in New Film?

By Andrea Dresdale

Tom Munroe/RCA RecordsJustin Timberlake‘s known as a golfer, but if one report is correct, he’ll be showing off his basketball skills soon…on the big screen.

The film industry news website The Tracking Board reports that Justin has signed to play real-life basketball player Jack Ryan in a movie called Release: The Jack Ryan story. Ryan is a New York City street ball legend who never played in the NBA, but is still considered to be one of the most gifted players ever. He did play with the Harlem Wizards, an entertainment team, and toured with them internationally. He now works putting on one-man basketball shows at corporate events, half-time shows, NBA events and parties, and is also a motivational speaker.

The movie is based on a documentary of the same name about Ryan. No word on when the movie will begin shooting, or whether Justin will do his own basketball stunts.

Justin Timberlake Opens New Season of "Oprah's Master Class" Sunday Night

By Andrea Dresdale

Oprah.comJustin Timberlake is a master of his craft. At least, he is according to Oprah Winfrey, who’s selected him to kick off tonight’s season four debut of her OWN show, Oprah’s Master Class.

The show usually features legendary or iconic figures talking about their long career. Later this season, for example, we’ll hear from Whoopi Goldberg, Lionel Richie, Sharon Stone, Billy Bob Thornton and Robin Roberts. At age 33, Justin seems to be a bit young for “icon” or “legend” status, but Oprah says that he’s unique among today’s celebrities, and that’s why she’s chosen him for the show.

“There is a level of self-awareness that is there [with Justin] that you don’t find in most people in their thirties,” Oprah explained recently during an appearance on the Oprah.com digital series #OWNSHOW. “He’s not just traveling through life as a superstar. He’s a real artist who is thoughtful about his place in the world and what it took for him to get there.”

“I think that there are lessons in his life — whether he’s talking about the band, his relationships [or] his influences — …read more

On Oprah's Master Class, Justin Timberlake Recalls Missed Michael Jackson Duet Opportunity

By Andrea Dresdale

Oprah.comJustin Timberlake duets with Michael Jackson on “Love Never Felt So Good,” from the late King of Pop’s upcoming posthumous album, XSCAPE. It’s no wonder that he wanted to be involved in the project, since he’s now revealed that years ago, he turned down an opportunity to sing with Michael, out of loyalty to ‘N SYNC.

In an advance clip from his appearance on Oprah’s Master Class this Sunday, Justin tells the story about how he originally wrote the ‘N SYNC hit “Gone” on his own, for Michael Jackson to record. When he learned that Michael had turned the song down, Justin says, he went ahead and recorded it with ‘N SYNC for what turned out to be their final album, Celebrity. But, as he recalls, he knew that particular record was different, and that it was leading him down a new career path.

“I think it’s the first idea that I ever got about doing something on my own, because it was the first time I’d ever really felt the confidence to do it,” says Justin. “And I knew that the music that I was interested and was …read more

Justin Timberlake Is Most Expensive Ticket this Summer

By Andrea Dresdale

Dana Edelson/NBCSummertime means concerts, but the way ticket prices have risen in the past few years, it’s likely you won’t be able to afford to go to more than a few shows this year. Depending on who you want to see — Justin Timberlake, for example — you may not even be able to do that, especially if you purchase your tickets on the so-called “secondary market:” through a ticket reseller website.

According to TheStreet.com, this summer’s top-priced ticket on the secondary market is Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience tour. Tickets to the summer leg of his tour, which begins in July, are going for an average price of $349.50 each on reseller sites like TiqIq.com. His tickets are even more expensive than those for music legend Paul McCartney. Those will set you back an average of $336.80 on the secondary market, according to TheStreet.

Another Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Billy Joel, has the third-most expensive ticket this summer, with an average resell price of $319.56. Jay-Z and Beyonce’s forthcoming joint tour comes in third, averaging $306.22, while Cher‘s current tour is next, with an average resell …read more

Report: Justin Timberlake Leaves $4,000 Tip for Waitress at German Club

By Andrea Dresdale

RCA RecordsNever let it be said that Justin Timberlake is cheap: he reportedly left a $4,000 tip after partying at a German nightclub.

The British tabloid The Sun reports that Justin and a 25-person entourage showed up at the Crystal Cologne nightclub in Cologne, Germany during a recent tour stop and partied until just after 4 a.m. Even though the owner of the club picked up the tab for all their drinks, Justin did the right thing and didn’t forget the waitstaff. A waitress serving Justin and his party told The Sun that he left a $4,115 tip for her and the other severs, adding, “We were all really amazed.”

Justin’s 20/20 Experience World Tour continues its European leg through mid-May, and will then travel to the Middle East for a few dates before heading back to Europe. The next North American leg kicks off July 9 in Buffalo, NY.
