"Rio 2" Soundtrack Featuring New Bruno Mars Song Out March 25

Kevin Estrada/Blue Sky Studio/Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp.Not only does he make his voice acting debut in the upcoming animated film Rio 2, but Bruno Mars is also featured on the movie’s soundtrack, which now has a release date.

Rio 2: Music from the Music Picture will arrive in stores March 25, and it features the song “Welcome Back,” which is performed in the movie by Bruno as Roberto, the former boyfriend of the Anne Hathaway‘s character Jewel.

Other artists on the soundtrack include Bruno’s longtime musical collaborator Phillip Lawrence, as well as Janelle Monáe, Jamie Foxx, Kristin Chenoweth, former X Factor contestant Rachel Crow, and Siedah Garrett, who’s probably best known for duetting with Michael Jackson on “I Just Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” and co-writing the King of Pop’s classic “Man in the Mirror.”

Rio 2 will be in theaters April 11. In addition to Anne Hathaway, it features the voice talents of Jesse Eisenberg, Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno and many more.

Hear Bruno Mars Sing in "Rio 2"

Image credit: Kai Z. FengBruno Mars sings like a bird in a just-released preview clip for the upcoming animated film, Rio 2.

As previously reported, he fills the role of the bird Roberto, the ex-boyfriend of Jewel, the macaw voiced by Anne Hathaway. In the clip, the two are reunited, and Roberto is clearly happy to see her again.

Roberto sings, “Can you feel what I feel/The day is coming fast/Our precious Jewel has returned/I’ll be the first to sing welcome back.”

In the sequel, Jewel and her husband, fellow macaw Blu, decide to leave behind their big city life in Rio de Janeiro and head to the Amazon rainforest. The film, which also features the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan, Andy Garcia, and Kristen Chenoweth, opens April 11.
