Imagine Dragons Record Original Song for Transformers Movie

By Music News Group

Paramount PicturesImagine Dragons has recorded a new song for the upcoming Transformers movie, Age of Extinction. The tune is strong and anthemic, just how you’d expect a tune called “Battle Cry” to sound. Besides the standalone song, Imagine Dragons also contributed original music to the film’s score which, according to a Paramount press release, “added depth to the sound of the film.”

The Dragons’ song plays over a new Transformers trailer, which also announces that the band will play live at the world premiere in Hong Kong on June 19. Fans have a shot at winning a trip for two to see the exclusive show — just tweet using #TransformersPremiere for your chance.

“We’re incredibly lucky that [Imagine Dragons was] available to work with us,” says Transformers director Michael Bay in a statement. “I remember being drawn to the emotion of ‘Demons’ and ‘Radioactive’ the first time I heard those songs, and I knew I wanted that same energy and heart for this movie. They’ve created a really epic, otherworldly sound for ‘Battle Cry.'”

This is likely going to be all the new music we hear from the Dragons for a while — back in March frontman Dan Reynolds told Billboard …read more

"American Idol" Recap: Kristen O'Connor Is Eliminated

By ABC News Radio

FOXKristen O’Connor was eliminated from American Idol on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old from Sebastian, Florida, had fallen into the bottom three with Malaya Watson and MK Nobilette. She made a bid for the judges’ save by reprising her performance of Adele‘s “Turning Tables” from last week. But Harry Connick, Jr. informed her that he, Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban could not reach a unanimous decision.

The one-hour results show began with the top 13 performing OneRepublic‘s “Counting Stars” and Imagine Dragons‘ “Radioactive.”

Reigning Idol champ Candice Glover returned to sing a medley of her songs “Cried” and “Same Kinda Man,” off her debut album, Music Speaks.

British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, of whom Keith Urban spoke highly, delivered a live rendition of his tune “Me and You.”

The 12 remaining contestants will take the stage again next Wednesday night for a “Home”-themed performance show. It will air on Fox at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The following night, former American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will make an appearance on the results show, performing his new single, “Raging Fire.”

Pink, Imagine Dragons Winners at Pollstar Awards

By ABC News Radio

RCA RecordsPink and Imagine Dragons have certainly won plenty of awards for their music. They’ve also just been recognized for their shows on the road. Both artists were winners at the 25th Pollstar Awards.

Pink took home the award for Most Creative Stage Production, while recent Grammy winners Imagine Dragons won for Best New Touring Artist.

Pink’s The Truth About Love Tour, which wrapped up in January, was one of the most successful and best-reviewed concert treks of 2013, and featured Pink belting out all her hits in a circus-like atmosphere, complete with special effects, dancers, costume changes and even a ringmaster. She performed gravity-defying stunts and acrobatics, including singing while hanging upside down, bouncing up and down on bungee cords, and suspended above the stage in a massive chandelier.

Imagine Dragons, no doubt still stoked about their Grammy win last month for Best Rock Performance, for “Radioactive,” launched the final leg of their Into the Night Tour on February 8 in Boise, ID. It wraps March 15 in Denver.

The Pollstar Awards nominees were selected by an anonymous collection of 217 promoters, …read more
