Aberdeen man refuses to get off hood of his stolen car, recovers car

ABERDEEN, Wash. - An Aberdeen homeowner stopped a would-be thief this week after refusing to get off the hood of his stolen car. Aberdeen Police Captain John Green tells us at about 1 Tuesday morning they were called to the 1000 block of West Perry for a vehicle theft. Investigators learned that the homeowner had already recovered his car, and that the suspect had fled on foot. As a K-9 track was setup, the victim explained that they overheard someone enter their home and steal their keys. Thinking it was their son, the victim went to tell him he couldn't borrow the car when he saw a stranger backing into his other vehicle and leaving. The man said he jumped on the hood of his car and rode it down Perry street where the suspect, later identified as a 27 year old transient, tried to shake him by stopping fast and backing up. When that failed the suspect fled on foot, and was later apprehended by APD
A 27 year old transient male was taken into custody for residential burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, vehicle assault, DWLS 3rd degree, making a false statement, and hit and run unattended.  The suspect is well known to local law enforcement and is currently in custody in the City of Aberdeen jail.

Burglary Interrupted in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, Wash. - Police are seeking the public's assistance to locate a burglary suspect who was interrupted when the home he was in happened to be occupied. On 12/14/10 at about 1140 pm, Aberdeen police officers responded to a possible interrupted burglary that had just occurred in the 300 block of Park St.  The female resident told officers that she was in her bedroom when she heard the front door open.  She said she thought she had locked the door.  When she went to the front room she saw a male subject standing inside the house. She said she did not know the man and yelled at him.  The suspect pushed pass the female, knocking her to the ground, as he fled out the front door.

Responding officers were assisted by a deputy from the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 handler from the Hoquiam Police Department.  A male subject was located walking away from the area of the incident but was not identified.  That male was arrested on an unrelated Aberdeen Municipal Court arrest warrant.

The suspect was described as a white male, around 35 years old, 5-8 to 6-2, black hair and a black mustache with bushy eyebrows.  He was described as wearing a blue sweatshirt with a hood, dark blue sweat pants, possibly black or blue tennis shoes.  The victim said when she saw him in her house his hair and clothing was wet.
