Stevie Nicks Wants to Write Music for "Game of Thrones"

By Andrea Dresdale

Credit: Kristin BurnsNow that Stevie Nicks has appeared in the show American Horror Story: Coven, she’s got her eye on another popular fantasy TV series: Game of Thrones. Stevie doesn’t want to appear in the sex-and-violence-filled HBO drama, however: she’d just like to provide it with some tunes.

Speaking to Britain’s Radio Times, Stevie says of the series, which she first discovered when she was bedridden with pneumonia, “I would love to write some music for the show. I’ve written a bunch of poetry about it — one for each of the characters.” The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman adds, “I’m always looking for that kind of inspiration.”

For those who haven’t watched it, Game of Thrones is based on the epic, sprawling series of fantasy novels called, collectively, A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin. It concerns the struggle for power among a number of feuding families in the fictional land of Westeros, a quasi-medieval place where sorcery and dragons exist. The show’s fourth season will premiere April 6.

Asked why she’s drawn to Game of Thrones, Stevie explains, “The guy who wrote these stories …read more
