Detectives learn purse-snatching victim was selling her pills, shut down drug house with “rest of the story”

HOQUIAM, Wash. - The suspect in a purse snatching incident that locked down the YMCA of Grays Harbor briefly last week has been arrested, and a local drug house shut down according to Police Chief Jeff Myers. When detectives learned that their victim in the case was also selling the type of prescription pills that were stolen, they had the break in the case they needed to move in on a known hot spot.

Myers tells us just before 10 on the morning of November the 7th, Hoquiam officers were called to an armed robbery in the 2700 block of Aberdeen Ave in Hoquiam. The victim, a 49-year old Hoquiam woman, reported a white male wearing a pull-over sweatshirt had approached her outside of her apartment building as she exited her car.

The suspect asked for a cigarette; as the victim opened her purse, the suspect grabbed the purse and attempted to take it from the victim’s grasp. The victim struggled with the suspect over the purse at which point the suspect took a pocket knife from his pants pocket. The victim reported she started yelling for help.
