By Andrea Dresdale

Doobie Bros. w/Sara Evans & Brad Paisley (Credit: Alan Poizner)Michael McDonald officially left the Doobie Brothers in 1982, but he’s reuniting with his old bandmates for a new duets album. It’ll feature the band performing updated versions of their hits with some of today’s biggest country stars.

The record, which will be released later in 2014 on the Sony Music Nashville label, will include appearances by Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Sara Evans, and Chris Young, among others.

The project was officially announced last week at an invite-only event in Nashville during the annual Country Music Seminar. At the bash, The Doobie Brothers gave a surprise performance alongside Brad, Sara and Chris in front of an audience of music-industry VIPs and media members.

The album, which has been in the works for a few months, will feature tunes that have been hand-picked by each country act. Why country music in the first place? Well, the Doobies have recently established a connection with Nashville. In 2011, the band teamed up with country star Luke Bryan for an episode of the CMT Crossroads performance series, and made their …read more

"American Idol" Recap: The Top 13 Perform "This Is Me" Songs

By ABC News Radio

FOXWednesday night on American Idol, the top 13 performed for the viewers and for judges Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. For the first time, fans were able to vote immediately after the performances.

The theme of the night was “This Is Me.” Contestants were asked to perform songs that best defined them.

Dexter Roberts kicked things off by playing “Aw Naw,” by country artist Chris Young, on his guitar. Keith and Jennifer both thought it was a fine cover, but wished Dexter had put his own spin on it. Harry suggested that Dexter show off more of his personality.

The bespectacled Malaya Watson took on Bruno Mars‘ “Runaway Baby.” J-Lo graded Malaya’s performance skills as an “A-plus,” though she added it wasn’t the teen’s best vocals. Harry invoked his favorite word, “intonation,” and sensed she was a little nervous.

Kristen O’Connor performed “Beautiful Disaster,” a track off former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson‘s debut album, Thankful. Harry called her a strong pop singer, but he questioned whether she properly conveyed the meaning of the lyrics, about a woman accepting a man despite his faults. Kristen replied that she intended for the …read more

Chris Young's Lack of Gift-Wrapping Skills Is a Running Family Joke

By Music News Group

RCA NashvilleLike most single guys, Chris Young is really bad at wrapping Christmas gifts. His method consists of setting the gift in the center of some wrapping paper, scrunching it up at the top, tying a ribbon around it and then sticking a nametag on it. That complete lack of wrapping skills has become a running joke at his family Christmas parties.

Chris says with a laugh, “Everybody knows which ones mine are, ’cause you know my mom and my sister, and my mom wrapped for my dad, so, they’re all real pretty …read more
