Aberdeen man allegedly chases victim with a knife at car accident scene

Aberdeen Police arrested a man yesterday evening after he allegedly ran a stop sign, collided with a van, then wielded a knife. Police Captain John Green tells us at about 5:59 P.M. Monday, officers responding to the call of a collision at the corner of First Street and B Street were told that one of them was now chasing the other with a knife. Witnesses told the Officers that the suspect, a 36 year old Aberdeen male, was driving a 2001 Toyota PU and had allegedly run the stop sign on East First Street at B Street and collided with a 2004 Pontiac Van driven by a 32 year old Aberdeen man.  No injuries were reported. The investigating officers were told that a witness to the collision took a photo of the license plate of the car driving by the suspect.  The witness said he was concerned the suspect may flee the accident scene.  Allegedly the suspect exited his car and displayed a “Rambo” type knife in a threatening manner toward the witness.  Officers were told that the suspect allegedly held the knife in a “slashing” manner and made a verbal threat toward the victim. The suspect allegedly returned to his truck after a short period of time and as the officers arrived on scene. Green said the suspect, 36 year old Glenn D. Black, was arrested at the scene for Assault in the 2nd Degree.  He was arrested and transported to the City of Aberdeen jail without incident. The investigation is continuing.
