Slick Roads and Speeding Contribute to Single-Vehicle Wreck South of Cosmopolis

Speeding was the cause of a single-vehicle accident on US Route 101 South of Cosmopolis that sent a 68-year-old Aberdeen woman to the hospital Saturday evening.

The Washington State Patrol reports her 2002 Mazda 626 was Southbound on 101, 4 miles South of Cosi when she entered a down hill curve on slick roads and lost traction around 5:30 pm Saturday. The car slid across the oncoming lane and into the embankment before rolling onto its top and coming to rest upside down on the shoulder of the road.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said the Southbound lane was blocked for about 30 minutes while crews cleared the scene.

Trooper Blake said the driver was transported to Community Hospital in Aberdeen with undisclosed injuries. Any charges stemming from the accident are under investigation.
