Olympic National Park invites the public to attend a presentation on the proposed Olympic Hot Springs Road geotechnical investigation. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.
When: Tuesday, May 15 from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Where: Elwha Klallam Heritage Center – Eagle’s Nest Room, 401 E. First St. in Port Angeles
Public scoping occurred in March 2018 and the public reviewed and provided input on developing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for an Olympic Hot Springs Road Geotechnical Investigation. The purpose of this presentation is to clarify the scope of the proposed geotechnical investigation and provide the public with an opportunity to ask questions.
The geotechnical investigation would assess subsurface conditions of the Olympic Hot Springs Road. The data from the investigation would be used to determine the engineering feasibility of a potential relocation of a one-mile section of Olympic Hot Springs Road out of the floodplain.
The analysis of a potential relocation would occur in a separate environmental assessment to address long-term planning for the Olympic Hot Springs Road.
