One Jailed on Vehicular Homicide and Assault Charges After Weekend Car Wreck

Unsafe passing led to a two-car wreck on the highway to Ocean shores that claimed the life of one person and injured four others over the weekend. The driver remains jailed this morning with no bail set.

The Washington State Patrol report said a 1998 BMW 4-door car collided head on with a 2002 Dodge Neon after passing another car on State Route 109, 3.5 miles North of Hoquiam around 9:40 pm Saturday night.

The 29-year-old Aberdeen man that was driving the Neon was injured, along with a 12 and 6 year old passenger, all were transported to Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries. A 31-year-old woman in that car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old Tacoma woman in the BMW was airlifted from the scene to Harborview Medical Center. The driver of the BWM, a 30-year-old Belfair man, was not injured. He remains jailed on one count of vehicular homicide, and three counts of vehicular assault.

Trooper Blake said the road was fully blocked for 6 and a half hours to accomodate the investigation.
