Ocean Shores police confiscated an alligator from a man Wednesday afternoon. Sgt. Donald S. Grossi tells KBKW investigators acting on several tips executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Ocean Shores Boulevard NW for an alligator that was reportedly living in an apartment at the complex. Officers from the Ocean Shores Police Department served the search warrant in the afternoon and discovered a four foot alligator just outside the apartment in the back seat of a 51 year old Ocean Shores resident’s vehicle, who was attempting to remove the alligator from the scene prior to the polices arrival. The alligator was seized and later turned over to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. Grossi said a case has been sent to the City Prosecutor’s Office for review of possible charges. Washington state law classifies alligators as wild animals, and under RCW 16.30.030 does not allow owning a potentially dangerous wild animal.
