A POWERFUL EARTHQUAKE HAS STRUCK CHILEThere is NO tsunami advisory, watch or warning for the U.S.
A powerful earthquake has struck Chile. Originally thought to be a magnitude 7.0 (later downgraded to 6.7), the Chilean government authorized the evacuation of numerous coastal towns with a total population of 100,000.
