Montesano Family displaced after house fire Tuesday

Firefighters pulled back and worked to contain a house fire in Montesano yesterday, Chief Corey Rux tells us flames were visible as they arrived at the home in the 200 block of East Broadway around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. “When we got here we were able to confirm that all of the occupants were evacuated safely. It started out as what appeared to be a room and content fire, we tried an aggressive interior attack with our fire crews. Due to some construction constraints and the rapid growth of the fire, we had to withdraw from the building and try to contain it to the building of origin.”

Montesano Fire 4 692015The fire rolled through the older home into the attic where it collapsed the roof. Rux said one firefighter was transported from the scene with undisclosed injuries, “We did have one firefighter injury – minor injuries, he was transported to Community Hospital, he is doing absolutely fine.”

Fire District 2 aided in the response, firefighters were on scene until around midnight making sure the hot spots were out.
