RAYMOND –WSDOT’s contractor in north Pacific County delivered a smoother, safer drive in the fall sunshine as WSDOT wrapped up the US 101, SR 6 to Grays Harbor County Line paving project this week.
By WSDOT’s calendar, rainy season arrives on Oct. 1 each year. Contractors are always trying to beat the clock and finish paving projects before that deadline, since good-quality paving depends on dry, warm conditions. This year, the weather favored late-season work and Granite Construction Co. was able to work into the fall to complete paving on US 101.
Construction began in July on this $2.8 million project, which resurfaced nearly nine miles of US 101 between SR 6 in Raymond and the Grays Harbor County line (mile posts 58 to 67) and brought sidewalk ramps in Raymond up to current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Work in the city of Raymond also included intersection improvements, which required lengthy closures and detours for local traffic. WSDOT is grateful to the community of Raymond for its patience during construction.
