SHELTON, Wash. - At about 7:08 last night, Shelton Police were dispatched to a shooting in the 1900 block of South 1st Street. On arrival the Officers’ attention was directed to a vehicle that was fleeing the scene. Shelton Police tell KBKW a vehicle pursuit ensued for several blocks and terminated with the suspect crashing into a fence and then fleeing on foot. Officers engaged in a short foot pursuit, but ultimately caught up with the suspect and took him into custody.
At the original crime scene Officers located a victim who had sustained non-life threatening gunshot injuries to his hands and arms. He was transported to Mason General Hospital for treatment and later released. A second victim was found dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.
Although the investigation is not yet complete, Detectives at this point have determined that the parties involved in this incident are familiar with each other. It appears that there was a disturbance at the residence earlier, after which the suspect left. He returned with a handgun at which point the shootings occurred. During the course of the incident he reportedly took personal possessions belonging to the victims, although that is not thought to be the primary motivation behind the shootings. The suspect was identified to be 53 year old Michael Justiniano of Shelton. Justiniano was booked on charges of 1st Degree Homicide, Attempted Homicide and Robbery.
