HOQUIAM, Wash. - On Tuesday, August 6, starting at 6 PM, neighborhoods throughout Hoquiam will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “30th Annual National Night Out” against crime event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Hoquiam Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies, involves over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug awareness, generate support for local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police- community relationships and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

If you want to close your street or use a city park for a party during National Night Out, please contact Tracy Wood at the City of Hoquiam Community Services Department at 360- 532-5700 x 240. Signs and barricades will be made available for this special event at no cost.
National Night Out provides an opportunity for all community members to get to know one another and build strong networks of communication throughout neighborhoods. Last year, neighborhoods throughout Hoquiam hosted several block parties, some of which included BBQ’s, games and fun for the kids and adults alike. Public Officials, Police Officers, CRIME WATCH volunteers and Firefighters from Hoquiam dropped in and visited with neighbors and talked about important crime prevention and visited with the citizens of Hoquiam.
