OCEAN SHORES, Wash. - Something for everyone and every age awaits you in Ocean Shores at the “Five Star Dealerships” Sand and Sawdust Festival, June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. The fun begins Friday, June 21 at 10:00 AM as Professional Chainsaw Carvers from all over start competing for the top Awards. Watch for flying woodchips as logs are turned into Bears, Eagles, Dolphins, and beautiful benches before your eyes. At 4PM the days Auction get under way selling the woodcarvers offerings. Friday morning at the convention center the Sand Singles Competition gets under way, each one-man team will be continuously carving until the event ends at 12:00 PM Sunday. Each day the public votes for their favorite carving.
Friday and Saturday from 1:30 - 3:00, and Sunday from 12:30 to 2:00, appearing live on the Convention Center stage, Peter Jordan and his distinctive voice, songs and acoustic guitar. You will see Peter on stage with North West Roads.
Friday from 9AM till 6PM is the last chance to register at the Ocean Shores Convention Center (120 W. Chance A La Mer) for Saturdays Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest located on the Beach by the Chance A La Mer approach. Friday Afternoon at 4:30, Master Sand Sculptor Bert Adams will be on hand on the beach offering free Sand Sculpting Lessons for all.
Saturday: the Wood Carvers will again be hard at work at the Convention Center; auctioning off their products at 4PM. Beginning at 9AM on the Beach by the Chance A La Mer Approach, Professional Master, Intermediate and Novice Sand Sculptors begin their day long contest culminating at 3PM with $7,000 in Awards Presented at 5:30PM at the Convention Center Stage. Also competing on the beach on Saturday will be the Family Sculptors who will compete for Prizes of their own. Fun, awe, and surprises await all on the beach Saturday! Saturday only a Free Shuttle service will be offered between several Hotels, Downtown, the Convention Center and the Beach from 10:00AM till 5:00PM to make getting around easy for all.
Sunday morning finds the chainsaw carvers "battle on" with the last day of competition beginning at 10:00AM, finishing up with the Auction at 2PM. Chain Saw awards will be Sunday at 4:00pm WITH THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN PRIZE MONEY BEING AWARDED!
Sunday Morning Free Beach Sand Sculpting Lessons will again be offered in the Convention Center “Sand Pit” located in the front parking lot at Noon.
Sunday at 1:00 at the Convention Center’s Sand Pit a new Children’s Quick Sand Contest will take place. Registration takes place at the Sand Pit and children will compete for prizes. The audience will select winners.
