ABERDEEN, Wash. - Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. this week announced that Gov. Jay Inslee will be the Keynote Speaker at its annual State of Grays Harbor, to be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 30 at the Rotary Log Pavilion.
“While Grays Harbor has seen a few lean years, economically speaking, this event shows just how much attention we are attracting, for the way that we have been leading the state out of the recession, that the governor wants to address an audience here,” said GGHI Chair Larry Kahl. “We have a lot of economic activity, new economic activity, and we’re being recognized for it.”
The State of Grays Harbor, which is GGHI’s annual economic update and forecast event, has been moved to the Rotary Log Pavilion this year.
“We think having the governor is a big deal, so we went for a big venue,” said Tim Gibbs, CEO.
This year will also debut the very first Grays Harbor Economic Vitality Index (EVI), a booklet that tracks multiple economic indicators over the years in an attractive package. Previously, GGHI only published a single sheet of economic indicators that was specific to the point in time – trends were not tracked.
“Other counties have these EVIs, and they are powerful marketing tools for businesses looking to locate or expand in those areas,” Gibbs said. “Staff devoted a lot of time combing through years of indicators and we’re excited to have a product that can show the opportunities here in Grays Harbor.”
Reservations are required by April 19. Tickets are $25 for GGHI members who RSVP on time, $30 for non-members and those who miss the deadline. Breakfast, catered by O’Brien’s, is included. Call 532-1924 for reservations or email email@example.com.
