Elma, Washington—The community is invited to come and celebrate the completion of Grays Harbor County Public Hospital District #1’s new medical center. The Ribbon Cutting and Community Open House are planned for Friday, January 25th at 600 East Main Street in Elma. The community is encouraged to bring their families and participate in the activities which will include site tours, department demonstrations, visits from area fire trucks, ambulances and Airlift Northwest. The new medical center will replace Mark Reed Hospital when it opens for business in February.

“We are so excited to be able to finally invite the community to view and tour their new medical center,” CEO Renee Jensen shares, “This project has been several years in the making and to finally be able to open our doors and invite people to come in and celebrate the completion of this project and the future of healthcare for this community brings our team such joy!”

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will kick off at 10:00am with the presenting of the flag by the Color Guard Team from Madigan Army Medical Center. The ceremony will feature Congressman Derek Kilmer as featured speaker along with several speakers from the community. The Community Open House will begin at noon and will feature a wide variety of activities for people to enjoy and opportunities to learn about the services that will be offered at Summit Pacific Medical Center. The Red Cross Blood Mobile will be onsite from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Grays Harbor County Public Hospital District #1 received a 21.1 million dollar USDA Rural Development Loan in the Fall of 2010. The District hosted their groundbreaking celebration and the start of construction in the Fall of 2011. The brand new facility is over four times the size of their current building in McCleary and will feature: a third healthcare clinic (the District will continue to own and operate Mark Reed Healthcare Clinic and Elma Family Medicine); a ten bed Emergency Department; a ten bed In-Patient Wing; a full service laboratory; and an expanded Diagnostic Imaging Department that will house digital mammography, an in-house CT scanner, a mobile MRI unit, and outpatient ultrasound. The new facility will also house a full service kitchen, several conference and education rooms, and a beautiful healing garden.
