On December 10th, 2012 the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office received a much needed monetary donation to help maintain and continue our K-9 program. Due to funding difficulties, the program was in danger of being discontinued.
The Sheriff’s Office utilizes K-9 “Simon” for narcotics detection and K-9 “Diesel”, a bloodhound, for assisting in tracking criminal suspects or lost people during Search and Rescue missions. Both dogs have proven very useful and have been made available for several other agencies in the past as well.
Monty and Sophie Baker, owners of Chief Lighthouse Charlie’s on the Shoalwater Bay Indian reservation approached Sheriff Scott Johnson after hearing Sheriff Johnson speak about the possibilities of losing the program. Without being asked, they graciously donated $2,700.00 to be put towards maintaining the K-9 program.
This kind and well appreciated donation will be combined with other generous donations already made by the Ocean Park Moose Lodge to allow us to continue the program through 2013.
Sheriff Scott Johnson expressed, “We are extremely pleased by the generous and unexpected donation from the Baker’s.” “We are very fortunate to have people like them in our community and without their support, our active and developed K-9 program would have been in jeopardy”.
