Rain-Hammered Roads Swell, Buckle, and Sink

Artic, WA - Heavy rains have caused the ground under a section of US 101 to slide, creating large cracks in the pavement at milepost 72 near Artic. the speed limit through the area has been lowered from 55 to 25 miles per hour.

Just North of 101, the Smith Creek Road to North River also experienced some washout. County crews have marked at least one area where the shoulder and part of the road have sunken.

in Aberdeen, Stewart blvd is a single lane road near a hillside home that is sliding off of it's foundation.
