Aberdeen, WA - Senator Maria Cantwell visits Aberdeen today, along with, Shelton and Olympia as part of the Washington Democrats’ 26-stop “Jobs for Washington" tour.
Joining her at different stops throughout the day will be Derek Kilmer, candidate for Washington’s 6th Congressional District, and Denny Heck, candidate for Washington’s 10th Congressional District.
In Aberdeen at 12:15 p.m., Cantwell and Kilmer will join port officials, tribal leaders and community members to discuss the coastal economy and how more efficient movement of freight can support jobs at the Port of Grays Harbor.
A local crabber will also highlight the Cantwell-backed Doppler radar system’s importance to the region’s fishing industry.
In Shelton at 2:45 p.m., Cantwell and Heck will join local shellfish farmers and will discuss how to protect shellfish farms from the increasing threat of ocean acidification. The shellfish industry employs 3,200 people in Washington state and is the second largest employer in Mason County.
In Olympia at 4:45 p.m., Cantwell and Heck will meet with local business owners to highlight the importance of increasing access to capital for small businesses.
Throughout the 26-stop tour, Cantwell and Jay Inslee, along with Washington Democratic candidates will encourage supporters to get out the vote on November 6.
