MONTESANO, Wash. - September is National Preparedness Month, and the city of Montesano is preparing by stashing emergency supplies. Police Chief Brett Vance explained to the council at last night's meeting "We've been working on emergency planning over the past several months in case the city did have a major disaster. We thought it would be good to have food and water, and some medical supplies. So we have put together barrels with those supplies, they are strategically placed throughout the city in case city hall goes down." The chief said the meals-ready-to-eat, medical supplies, and water will be reserved for city staff during a disaster. "We never had anything, we talked about it for about two months and we decided let's get something together at least so we have it and we can build off it in the future."
