Aberdeen, WA - The pitcher's mound got a lot bigger at a pair of diamonds in Pioneer Park yesterday, then the mound moved to the outfield as City of Aberdeen crews tore the grass off of softball fields 1 and 2 at the sports complex on the South side of Aberdeen.
Parks Director Karl Harris tells us crews will re-grade the fields and hydro seed in September, with fencing to be installed in the winter.
Harris said the renovations will resolve long-standing issues with the fields settling unevenly, and give the department a chance to replace older water lines that are beginning to buckle under the changes.
