Hoquiam, WA - Imperium Renewables has announced John Gillespie as the new Vice President of Operations at their Grays Harbor biodiesel facility. Gillespie will lead production at the nation’s second largest biodiesel production facility. “John brings a wealth of experience along with strong operations and management skills,” said Imperium CEO John Plaza. “He is the perfect fit with our team and he will be excellent in his role as Vice President at Imperium Grays Harbor.” Gillespie joins Imperium after two years of stable operations and profitability. He comes to Grays Harbor after more than 20 years of operating and engineering experience in the chemical industry.
After serving six years with the industry’s largest design build firms, Gillespie joined Momentive Specialty Chemicals (previously Borden Chemicals), one of the largest chemical and materials companies worldwide. During his 18 years with Momentive, John served as Process Engineer, Site Leader, Regional Manufacturing Leader and, most recently, Director of Production and Project Engineering for 20 plants in North America. “I’m thrilled to be joining such an innovative, strong company in such a welcoming community,” said Gillespie. “Imperium Renewables is a sector leader and I’m looking forward to helping the business and the industry grow.” Gillespie holds a Bachelor or Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton and is a Registered Professional Engineer. Imperium, founded in 2007, has risen to be one of the world’s leading biodiesel producers and innovators in the industry. In addition to their Grays Harbor facility that has the capacity to produce 100 million gallons of biodiesel, a recent partnership with Boeing, LanzaTech, PNNL and Battelle has positioned Imperium to be at the forefront of the growing sector of drop-in renewable jet fuels.
