Chehalis, WA - Over 60 Sheriff’s Office volunteers gathered Saturday, March 24, at the Veterans' Memorial Museum in Chehalis for the annual volunteer recognition ceremony. Sheriff Mansfield presented special awards to several individuals for outstanding service, dedication and leadership. Those recognized individuals included: Civil Air Patrol – Lewis County Composite Squadron – Major Gil White Lewis County Support Volunteers – Tony Perdue & Ardith Hamilton Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputies – Bob Harris Lewis County Jail Chaplains – Victoria Erskine Lewis County Explorer Post #771 – Kristal Tardiff Lewis County Chaplaincy Services – Brian Carter Mossyrock SAR – Shon Williams (who has been a volunteer for 45 years) Cascade Dogs SAR – Ann Lindh Lewis County ARES – James Van Ornum
Sheriff Mansfield addressed the group and thanked them for helping make such a positive difference within the community. The volunteers contributed thousands of hours, participating in a variety of projects and events in 2011. Explorer Kristal Tardiff alone donated over 450 hours of individual volunteer time to help make Lewis County a better place to live.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office continues to face budget and resource challenges but with the assistance of the outstanding volunteers we have working with our office, this community continues to receive the outstanding service they have come to expect from the Sheriff’s Office. Volunteers continue to play a critical role in accomplishing our mission and I am so grateful for such a dedicated, diverse, and competent group of volunteers. - Sheriff Steve Mansfield
