Westport, WA - Westport Winery has been selected to host one of six celebrations of the Washington 4-H Foundation’s 50th Anniversary. On Friday, April 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Foundation will host an event at the winery for those who wish to honor and support 4-H efforts statewide. There is a suggested donation fee of $10 per person to the 4-H Foundation to cover the cost of the food and wine. This allows donors who make a larger gift to know that their gift will go to support the youth programs. Winery co-owner, Kim Roberts and both her adult children who work at the winery, Carrie and Dana, were 4-H members in their youth. The positive impact of 4-H contributed to their efforts in agriculture in Grays Harbor and within Washington’s wine industry. Kim Roberts’ father, Clyde Irving who passed away in 2007, was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in 2003. He started his 4-H career in 1956 as leader of the Equestriannaires, a 4-H livestock and horse club. In 1962 he was instrumental in starting the Puget Sound Junior Livestock Show and spent 15 years serving on the Board of Directors. He also served on the Evergreen State Fair Board of Directors, in addition to being a horse and livestock show judge throughout Western Washington.

A portion of the proceeds from two of Westport wines benefit Washington State University outreach organizations. Little Wild Blackberry Riesling benefits the WSU Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties and Bog Berry Blush benefits the WSU Cranberry Research Station and Museum in Long Beach. Guests may elect to stay for dinner after this event. The winery is open daily from 11a.m. to 6p.m., with lunch from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. Reservations are not necessary to participate in this event, just stop by Westport Winery located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road.
