Queets, WA - With the state's legislative session beginning next week, State Representative Brian Blake says lawmakers may look at expanding logging practices to create jobs, and stimulate funding "When they sell trees for whatever trust whether it's K-12 trust or county trust, they get to keep so many cents of every dollar. That goes into an account that goes back in to planting and trimming the trees. We authorize that in our budget, and we may authorize some more of that activity, that would mean jobs."
Blake said he's asking that Department of Natural Resources land in the Queets corridor be converted to trust land for managed logging operations.
