MONTESANO, Wash. - The Chehalis River Basin Flood Authority meets this morning. Chairwoman, and Cosmopolis Mayor Vickie Raines tells us she's trying to build bridges over flood plains "I would appreciate the tribe being at the meetings and giving input. I understand that they walked away from the Flood Authority as a whole."
A letter sent recently to the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis asked for consultation, not a return to the table. Raines said all groups involved can benefit from mutually sharing information.
Today's meeting will be at the Montesano city hall with a work shop at 9am featuring a tour of Montesano's water treatment plant and other areas of the city that could be affected by Chehalis river flooding. After a lunch break the business meeting will begin at 1:30.
