Aberdeen, WA - An explosion behind the Grays Harbor PUD facility this afternoon knocked out power to customers from Aberdeen to Ocean Shores. Witness to the explosion Doug McDowell reported from the scene  "I was coming out of my garage when the explosion occured and the fireball was at least 150 to 200 feet high."

Liz Anderson with the Grays Harbor PUD tells us an equipment failure in the Bonneville Power Administration substation appears to be what caused the outage that knocked out power about 3000 customers for nearly two hours. PUD crews worked to move customers to redundant facilities as BPA reported their repairs should be complete by Saturday evening.
