Twin Harbors, A Branch of New Market Skills Center, is once again offering summer skills classes free of charge for high school students in grades 9-12. Courses in Industrial Engineering (electrical wiring, refrigeration and HVAC), Automotive Technology, Computer Animation and Cosmetology will be offered and students can earn 0.5 credits in any course.
Summer classes are offered in Aberdeen and will run from June 27th until July 13th with no class on July 4th. They will run each weekday from 7:30-3:30 with lunch provided. Students can register for classes online by accessing www.newmarketskills.com and linking to Twin Harbors registration.
Established in 2010, Twin Harbors serves students from 10 different school districts including: Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Lake Quinault, Montesano, North Beach, Ocosta, Raymond, South Bend, Willapa Valley and Wishkah Valley.
Registration is also open now for fall programs which will include Industrial Engineering, Automotive Technology, Cosmetology and a brand new program in Professional Medical Careers offered in partnership with Grays Harbor Community Hospital. Professional Medical Careers will offer students high school students a head start on a career in health care. The fall programs run through the 2011-2012 school year and all lead to some type of college credit as well as an industry certification.
