Brief Standoff in Hoquiam, Two Arrested on Robbery Warrants

Hoquiam Police approached a home on the west end of Hoquiam just after 1:30 Wednesday morning, on information that two robbery suspects were inside, with assistance from the Aberdeen Police Department, as well as the County Sheriff's Office due to the nature of the warrants.

 Entry was attempted with no initial success, and a standoff ensued. Hoquiam Seargent Joe Strong called in off-duty personell to assist, just before 3:30 am, officers were able to enter through the backdoor.


A 27 year old female was taken into custody without incident, initial searches of the home did not reveal the second suspect until officers found the 27 year old man in an attic crawl-space, refusing to surrender. Capstun was sprayed into the inclosed area and after about five minutes the suspect surrendered without further incident.

Both were later booked into the Grays Harbor County jail on warrants for robbery in the 1st degree, bail was set at $50,000 each.
