One Injured in Collision on State Route 8

One Injured in Car vs. Semi Collision on SR 8On September 8, 2010 at 07:57 a.m., 25-year-old Carmen M. Winkle was injured after colliding with a semi on State Route 8 at Old Olympic Hwy (milepost 19).  Winkle was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty westbound and collided with the trailer being towed by a 2003 Freightliner Semi truck.  The 48-year-old Seattle man driving the semi was not injured.  A 2-month-old infant who was a passenger in the Jeep Liberty was properly restrained and un-injured in the collision.

Westbound State Route 8 was blocked for a short period of time while Troopers set up a diversion to route traffic around the collision scene while they completed their investigation.  The cause of the collision is still under investigation however, alcohol and/or drugs were not involved.
