Three Injured in Mason County Collision

SHELTON, Wash. - Mason County Sheriff’s Traffic Enforcement Team is investigating a two car collision that occurred on the Mason Lake Road at the Mason-Benson Road at about 5:33 AM on Monday.  According to investigating deputies the 1998 Ford Mustang driven by John M. Rizzo, 37, Shelton, was northbound on the Mason Lake Road when it was struck by a 1999 Dodge Durango driven by Steven A. Garrett, 42, Forks.  According to investigators, the Garrett vehicle was westbound on the Mason -Benson Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the Rizzo vehicle.

Rizzo was transported to Mason General Hospital where he was treated and released with only minor injuries.  Garrett sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle.  A passenger in the Garrett vehicle, identified as Robin J. McDonough, 44, Shelton, sustained only minor injuries.  McDonough was treated and released at Mason General.

Deputies continue the investigation of this collision.
