Shelton, Wash. - To recognize the completion of a major transmission line upgrade that will help keep the lights on and meet increased energy demand in the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas, the Bonneville Power Administration will acknowledge the efforts of Congressman Norm Dicks, Mason County PUD 1 and 3 and Puget Sound Energy.
Energy demand in the area is forecast to grow 10 to 20 megawatts per year over the next 20 years. To keep pace with the increased need for power, BPA – with the support of Congressman Norm Dicks, Mason County PUD 1 and 3 and Puget Sound Energy – upgraded a power line running from BPA’s Shelton Substation in the City of Shelton to its Olympia Substation just west of Tumwater, Wash.
