Shelton, WA - Deputies arrested a 45 year old Shelton man Tuesday in connection with Monday’s West Coast Bank robbery in Hoodsport. At about 1:30 PM the man and his wife were stopped by deputies in the Agate area of Mason County.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect very early in the investigation thanks to excellent surveillance equipment at the bank and diligent investigation by Sheriff’s Detectives. Investigators placed the man’s residence under surveillance early Tuesday morning while detectives obtained a search warrant. At about 1:30 PM Detectives observing the suspect’s residence reported the suspect and a female were leaving the residence. Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and take the male suspect into custody without incident.

Mean while, Sheriff’s Detectives continue to execute a search warrant at the suspect’s residence that was issued earlier Tuesday for items of evidence in Monday’s robbery. As of the time of this release no information has been received about recovery of any cash taken from the bank. The man is currently in custody at the Mason County Jail awaiting his first court appearance which is anticipated to be sometime Wednesday.
Sheriff Casey Salisbury noted that this investigation was one of the first tests of our new facility in Shelton. He said “Because of our new building, we were able to conduct this investigation in a more efficient and safer manner. Our Deputies did a great job of identifying and capturing this individual without injury to the public or officers.”
