Legislative Sendoff Tuesday, Representatives Hope For Budget Miracle

ABERDEEN, Wash. - The 2010 Legislative Sendoff was hosted by the Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday at the Aberdeen Rotary Log Pavilion. House Majority Leader Lynn Kessler explained that the goal of the 60 day session is getting out on time, and filling the budget gap.


Facing a bleak economic forecast, Western Washington legislators detailed some of their ideas to recapture lost revenue, possible tax raises including sales and income tax, as well as cutbacks in spending.


Representative Brian Blake, Chairman of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Committee explained "This year is different, it's different than anything the legislature has faced in decades, and it's going to require us to step up and take a serious look at some programs"


The 2010 Legislative Session begins Monday January 11th, and this session cannot end without a balanced budget.
