Moore Floor Coverings FireAberdeen, WA - On Friday officials with the building owner’s insurance company and investigators with the Aberdeen Fire Department were able to make a preliminary assessment of the interior of the fire building.  A structural engineer has completed a preliminary determination of the structural conditions and investigators were able to get inside for an overall general assessment and photographs.  There are however numerous areas still inaccessible within the building that require scene processing.

The structural engineer and representatives from the building owner’s insurance company have advised the fire department that I street and State street could be opened up and should not be a concern for public safety.  We will continue the perimeter fencing around the building to keep the building secure.  Within the next week the insurance company will advise and update on the status of either building stabilization or demolition.

The estimate for dollar loss is 2.7 million (2.2 for structure and $500 for contents).
