| The City of Montesano's Levy for Operations of the Parks and Recreations department has failed.
With 50 ballots left to count, the County auditor reports a 41% voter turnout, and shows the levy rejected by 66% Parks And Recreation Coordinator Mike Bruner explained the Levy at a recent meeting on the City's intention with Lake Sylvia, a meeting that was intended to discuss options with the park the State says they cannot afford to maintain; his introduction by mayor Ron Shillenger asked the question [in the attached audio].
The levy asked Montesano residents for 135 thousand dollars for the next two budget years, for general operating expenses, however the levy did not include capitol projects like the Deacon Park Project. Bruner explained what it would cover [in the attached audio].
The levy would have cost property owners aprroximately 43 cents per 1000 dollars of assessed property value, or three dollars and sixety five cents more per month for a 100 thousand dollar home.
