OLYMPIA –Volunteers are needed in communities across the state to help count the number of people who walk or bike to their destinations. The information being gathered this fall will be used to track progress toward the state’s goal of increasing bicycling and walking in Washington and reducing the number of vehicle miles driven.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Cascade Bicycle Club are enlisting volunteers and organizations like FeetFirst and the Bicycle Alliance of Washington to count the numbers of people bicycling and walking on paths, bike lanes, sidewalks, and other facilities on Sept. 29 and 30 and Oct. 1.

Hoquiam Farmers Market Update

Posted on August 12, 2009 at 6:10 am (545 social interactions)

Whew!  The sky is clearing and the sunshine beginning to peak thru the clouds.  The rainy drizzly weather seemed to snap everyone back into Standard Weather mode, rummaging in the bottom of the drawer for a sweater and getting the water-proof sneakers out again.  Okay, the lawns got watered and the forest lands certainly needed the moisture, but let’s get back to Summer!

The Hoquiam Farmers Market is planning on many more weeks of carefree sunny days.  Remember the old phrase about mid-summer;

 The Dog Days of August ???  The images those words conjure!  Dusty country roads, heat waves visible in the air, the kids headed for the nearest river for a swim, and the family dog oblivious to everything as he sleeps that deep, happy slumber that only a dog can achieve.
